Music Video Mood board.

This is a mood board to show ideas of what style shots I like for our Music Video. Ours would be on a white background screen, yet these close ups and full band long shots within Biffy Clyro's video give me inspiration for ideas that I would like to try and include.

Time Plan for Studio Shoot.

We wrote a quick plan of how much time we were going to allow for each shot that we were hoping to capture, writing the timings, the shot, the people involved and also the number of times we hope to repeat the take. With this plan, we hope to be able to stick to a time schedule that allows us to achieve all of the shots and angles that we hope for.

Storyboard.

This storyboard includes images and annotations of shots we hope to achieve and timings of each of the clips thoughout the video, including footage from both live performance and documentary. We have put ticks by the side of the studio performance boxes, as we used this storyboard during the shoot, using it as a check sheet for the shots we had achieved, and to make us aware of shots that were still needed.

First Rough Plan of Video.

This is the first draft of ideas for the Studio Performance part of our music video. We show a clear preference of bright lighting and a white background, as hopefully this will contrast with our plans of putting our Documentary Footage in to black and white. We have ideas of achieving extreme close ups of both the band members and their instruments, along with long shots of the full band.

Test Footage

I like the idea of cutting pieces of a clip and putting them back together, making the image jolt and seem as though it's getting closer to the screen. I've often seen the idea within music videos, horror films and TV adverts. I like the idea of the clip cutting with each dramatic beat of the song, with the setting being within the underpass with the graffiti on the walls. The band could be walking through just chatting and messing around, and it could be used as part of our pseudo documentary clips.

How the Digipak Opens:

Digipak Design Sketch.

This is my initial design for my Digipak, this is the layout that I hope it will be, including the feature that I hope to include. I would like to include the booklet on the inside cover, with the bands logo on the sleeve to help promote them. I'd like the first bit you open to show a 'Mini Poster Advert' to show that the DVD included is actually exclusive. I'd like the front of the Digipak to be picture led, and the back to have the track list covering most of the side.

Plans for Photo Shoot.

These are some rough plans for what style shots and positions of the camera I'd like to take for my Digipak and Booklet.

Progress.

Photoshoot Wednesday 9th November -

Unfortunately this didn't quite go to plan, the bass player had to go to hospital for surgery, therefore he wasn't able to attend our shoot. We managed to get someone to cover him and stand in for some test shots, practising using the camera, the lights etc. We managed to see what angles and positions worked best, so when we redo the shoot everything will hopefully be sorted.

Merchandise.

Different items of clothing - Merchandise.

Different T-shirts - Possible band merchandise.

These items are just a few things I designed as merchandise that that band could look into in the future. Things such as hoodies, t-shirts, ladies tops etc, would be great things to boost their fanbase and increase income on a possible future website.

Music Video Analysis One - Whiskey Lullaby.

Favourite Music Video; 4.

I like this video at it's very 'party style' and is a 'feel good' video and song. It's one of those songs you can dance to, and the video also makes you want to dance, due to most of the video being based in a club.

Favourite Music Video; 3.

I like this music video because it's different to all the others out there. There are lots of different techniques used, which I find really interesting, such as how at the beginning the head of the male singer is changed into pixels, then is changed into a TV screen where Fergies head is then shown.

Favourite Music Video; 2.

I like this video because it has dance routines which I find entertaining. I like the lighting and the fact you can see the artist often throughout the video. I also like the different scenes throughout, which show different views and themes.

Favourite Music Videos; 1.

I like this music video as it's almost like a 'mini movie'. It captures my attention as it keeps me interested. The way the video brings the emotion from the lyrics works really well. With a song that is as emotional as this, the video needs to also be meaningful. To break up the video they add a few shots of the artist playing a guitar, it helps you to keep interest and gives you something else to look at.

Animation Project.

In this video we got to learn some more new techniques such as; key frame movement and rotation. This allows us to move things across the screen and also rotate or shrink/enlarge them. We learnt that we could put photoshop brushes and photos into the Premiere program which we use to create the videos. This is useful as we can then choose our own backgrounds and images to put into the music video.

ABC Music Video.

This is the second video which my group and I did, with this one we had to make sure our video clips cut in time with the song perfectly, as it was a different clip for each letter of the alphabet. We also changed curves, did some key frame movement and changed the gaussian blur and speed of the video.

Transition Project.

Whilst making this video I learnt many new techniques. First of all, I learnt how to actually use a camera to record a video. Then after all of that, I managed to learn how to do some editing work. During this video, I mainly just learnt how to use the editing program, such as importing the video clips, cutting them in tme with the music, and changing the curves and slide transitions.
